For a number of years now Clayton Utz has been in a position to maximise opportunities for our Australian based clients and offshore Chinese clients as workflows between the two countries continues to grow. Our team of partners make regular visits to China to meet key organisations and foster relationships with our long term contacts. A number of our senior Partners have spent many years based in Hong Kong and greater China region and have a detailed knowledge of the local Hong Kong and Chinese markets.  

A sample of our experience includes:

• advising TCL Communications Holdings, one of China's largest manufacturers of mobile handsets, on the establishment of a joint venture company to be known as TAM Holdings that acquired Alcatel's international mobile handset business.
• advised Compass Resources NL to establish 3 joint ventures with Hunan Nonferrous Metals Corporation, a Chinese government controlled company which is listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange.
• acting for the owner of the proposed Oyu Tolgoi copper and gold mine in Mongolia.
