Overview

Emma offers public and private entities extensive expertise in the structuring, development and operation of a wide range of construction and services projects. Clients seek her skills in developing procurement documents, identifying and allocating risks and negotiating and drafting contracts. Her practice also includes contract administration advice.

Emma is also active in the industry and is a Director of the Society of Construction Law and the Chair of the Conference Committee.

Notable Work
  • Victorian Government: advising on the Social Housing Growth Fund to grow new social housing in Victoria.
  • NSW and Queensland governments: advising on their Resilient Homes programs.
  • Emergency Services Infrastructure Authority: advised on AS2124 Construction Contracts for use on projects across Victoria.
  • Western Australian Housing Authority: acted on a dispute with a head contractor for a services contract and subsequently when a head contractor entered into administration.
  • Land and Housing Corporation of New South Wales: provided strategic advice on high value claims and cross-claims, and on the subsequent Expert Determination.
  • Legislative obligations: managed a multi practice group review of the legislative obligations of the Victorian Building Authority.
  • RACV: advises on domestic building legislation and construction contracts for use on offices, resorts and clubs.
  • Yarra Valley Grammar School: advising on the delivery of construction projects including their new Performing Arts Centre.
  • VicRoads: advised on their standard form contracts.
  • Myer: Advised on an amended AS4910 Supply and Install Contract for its new distribution centre.
