Media Release: Clayton Utz assists Pacific National to develop new rail hub

11 Mar 2019

Sydney, 11 March 2019: Clayton Utz is pleased to have advised Pacific National on its proposed development of a major freight hub at St Marys, in Western Sydney, including associated arrangements with logistics group ACFS. The hub will provide port shuttles to access stevedoring terminals at Australia's second largest port at Botany.

Clayton Utz partners Simon Brady, Samy Mansour and Nikki Robinson, together with core team members, partner Elizabeth Richmond, senior associate Lance Bode and lawyer Anthony Cavallaro, worked closely with Pacific National's in-house team on the transaction.

Subject to local and state government planning approvals, Pacific National aims to start construction of the St Marys freight hub this year. Once constructed, Pacific National expects to rail a total of 300,000 containers between Port Botany and St Marys each year, removing between 70,000 and 80,000 truck movements from Sydney’s road network.
