Media Release: Clayton Utz celebrates success at 2019 Australasian Law Awards

Sydney, Friday 24 May 2019: Clayton Utz was the proud recipient of three awards at the 2019 Australasian Law Awards held in Sydney on Thursday, 23 May.

For the third year running, Clayton Utz Chief Executive Partner Rob Cutler was named Law firm Leader of the Year (>200 employees).

Clayton Utz was also among the advisers on two award-winning deals:

  • Santos' acquisition of Quadrant won Energy & Resources Deal of the Year (Clayton Utz advised a consortium of sellers led by Brookfield and Macquarie on the deal)
  • the Paladin Restructuring won Insolvency & Restructuring Deal of the Year (Clayton Utz advised the company in the pre restructuring deals alongside KWM and continued to act for the board during the restructuring).

The firm was a finalist for several other awards including Law Firm of the Year, Corporate Citizen Firm of the Year, Excellence in Technology and Innovation and Excellence in Employee Health and Wellbeing.

Rob Cutler said he was humbled to receive the Law Firm Leader of the Year award, and said it reflected the exceptional talent and contribution of the Clayton Utz team.

"The award is a testament to the depth of leadership capability across the partnership, who all work so hard for our clients and people and contribute every day to our success."

The awards reflect the best legal professionals, firms, and in-house teams in the legal sector in Australia and New Zealand. More than 600 legal professionals attended the awards ceremony at The Star.
