Media Release: Clayton Utz continues to be an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality

24 Feb 2021

Sydney, 24 February 2021: Clayton Utz was recognised again today as a Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (EOCGE) for 2020/21.

WGEA's gender equality measures cover areas ranging from pay and leadership capability, and whether sex-based harassment and discrimination in the workplace is tolerated, to support for flexible work and parental and carer responsibilities.  WGEA also looks at the extent of an employer's efforts to foster a genuinely inclusive workplace, including ensuring women have the same opportunities for promotion and development, and are supported in bringing their whole selves to work.

As well as continuing to build on the work the firm has done around ensuring gender pay equity, promoting the equitable briefing of barristers, preventing gender-based harassment and discrimination, and support for LGBTIQ women, for example, areas of focus for the coming year include better recognising how gender intersects with other aspects of diversity, and improving the gender balance of the workforce.

Clayton Utz Chief Executive Partner Bruce Cooper said diversity and inclusion remained a strategic priority for the business.

In 2021, more than ever our D&I program will play a key role in ensuring our people feel connected and included. It's a cultural imperative for us to get inclusion and engagement right, because it represents our values as a firm.
