Media Release: Clayton Utz lawyers among Australasian Lawyer's Rising Stars 2022
2 March 2022: Legal industry title Australasian Lawyer has named four Clayton Utz senior lawyers in its Rising Stars 2022 list, which recognises the country's "up-and-coming legal superstars".
Amy Liu (senior associate, Taxation), Jerome Martin (special counsel, Real Estate), Madeleine McCloy (senior associate, Restructuring & Insolvency) and Greg Midgley (special counsel, Major Projects and Construction) are among 79 young legal professionals aged 35 and under singled out for having demonstrated leadership and achievement in the early stages of their careers.
Amy, who joined our firm in December 2021, said the recognition was an acknowledgement that she was "on the right track and am progressing in my career". "Tax is an intellectually stimulating area of law, and I am learning every day. I feel very fortunate to be mentored by partner Peter Feros and other partners and members of the Tax team."
Jerome said the award had encouraged him to pursue his work with even more passion and vigour. "I have always been fascinated with real estate, good design and place-making. It's a privilege to work in the Real Estate team here alongside great clients on matters that, literally, change the landscape in which we live and our experience of the world."
Madeleine's practice over the past couple of years has included working on the restructure and sale of Virgin Australia to Bain Capital, and says the Rising Stars recognition feels like an acknowledgement of that hard work. "My interest in restructuring and insolvency (R&I) developed organically after I started as a graduate in the Sydney R&I team, when I immediately found the work engaging. I'm lucky to be part of that amazing team, and to work on such a diverse range of exciting and challenging matters."
Greg said the best part of his work was working with "a tremendously talented and committed team of lawyers to help our clients navigate complex issues on major projects". "I have a simple philosophy at work. If we focus on serving our clients as best we can on each and every task, then the rest should take care of itself."
We're very proud of Amy, Madeleine, Jerome and Greg and congratulate them on this career achievement.
