A Clayton Utz team is celebrating our client Bridge Housing’s successful tender to develop the landmark $230 million Elizabeth Street project in Sydney’s Redfern.

Bridge Housing will partner with NSW Land and Housing Corporation on the project, which will see 300 new homes – a mix of social, affordable, specialist disability, key worker and private market housing – constructed on a 1.1ha largely vacant site at 600 Elizabeth Street located opposite Redfern Oval, around 3km from the Sydney CBD. The development will also include a 3,500 sqm community facility and the corporate headquarters for Bridge Housing.

Real Estate partner Nikki Robinson led our team, which included senior associate Danielle Sterling, and from the Major Projects and Construction team, partner Lina Fischer and special counsel Anne Davis. The team worked closely with the Bridge Housing team, Capella Capital and building company Hickory on the full suite of project documentation.

Commenting on our role, Nikki said:

In delivering social and affordable housing and new community facilities, the Elizabeth Street project will both meet a critical need as well as contribute to the continued renewal of the Redfern-Waterloo area. We’re really pleased to have the opportunity to work with Bridge Housing, and to bring our experience on social infrastructure projects to this particular project bid. We look forward to continuing to work with them, alongside Capella Capital, as the project is delivered.
