Australian law firm Clayton Utz is pleased to welcome specialist commercial dispute resolution lawyer Alex Tighe to its partnership, strengthening the firm's Commercial Litigation Practice.

With particular expertise in royal commissions and public inquiries, Ms Tighe has more than 20 years' experience acting in commercial disputes and regulatory investigations.

Clayton Utz Deputy Chief Executive Partner Nick Cooper said Ms Tighe’s experience would further bolster the firm’s commercial litigation capabilities.

‘With over two decades of experience, Alex joins the firm at a time when Australian businesses are faced with heightened regulatory pressures and public scrutiny.’

‘Alex brings exceptional knowledge in navigating complex legal issues for clients. Her proven leadership in high-profile inquiries, such as the ‘Lawyer X’ Royal Commission and the Crown Casino Royal Commission, enhances and strengthens our already robust capability in this area. We are excited to welcome Alex. With her expertise, we are well-positioned to enhance the strategic guidance, value, and insight we deliver to our clients,’ Mr Cooper said.

With an established commercial litigation practice, Alex is regularly briefed by government and corporate clients in complex, multi-party disputes and investigations and is a highly proficient commercial litigator.

Ms Tighe has been recognised as a leading Victorian Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution Lawyer in Doyle’s Guide since 2018. She is listed in Best Lawyers for Litigation and Government Practice. Alex was named ‘Partner of the Year’ at the Lawyers Weekly Women in Law Awards (2020). She has also been recognised in Australasian Lawyer’s list of Elite Women, where she was recognised for her professional excellence and a standout contribution to promoting social change, gender equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Alongside her legal practice, Ms Tighe is an executive director of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, and a non-executive director of the Mercy Health Foundation.

Ms Tighe joins Clayton Utz from Holding Redlich where she was a partner. She began her new role on 1 August 2024.
