These initiatives aim to improve housing outcomes for Australians and collectively support the delivery of 20,000 new social homes and 20,000 new affordable homes across Australia over the five year program.

The Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFFis a $10 billion fund established to create a secure, ongoing pipeline of funding for social and affordable rental housing including housing to support acute housing needs. It is the largest investment by the Commonwealth Government to support social and affordable housing in over a decade.

The National Housing Accord (NHAF) brings together all levels of government, investors, and the residential development, building and construction sectors to ensure quality, affordable housing supply over the medium term.

Nikki Robinson said:

"Supporting Housing Australia on its mission to improve housing outcomes for all Australians has been a pleasure. The HAFFF and the NHAF represent significant steps towards addressing housing affordability and accessibility issues in our communities and will help to deliver greater capacity into the market when it is most needed. In addition to providing housing support to at-risk groups including Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander communities, women and children experiencing domestic and family violence, and those at risk of homelessness, these initiatives are helping to create sustainable housing outcomes for all Australians. Our team look forward to seeing the positive impact these initiatives will have.

The first applications for funding are due to be received by Housing Australia today, 22 March 2024.
