Media release: Clayton Utz advises Evolution Rail on its $1.2 billion refinancing
Clayton Utz has advised Evolution Rail consortium – comprising Plenary Group, Partners Group, Downer and CRRC Changchun – on a $1.2 billion refinancing of its High Capacity Metro Trains project. The refinancing brings in funds from a large syndicate of investment and commercial banks throughout the Asia-Pacific region and reinforces the strong support this project has from major financial institutions.
The High Capacity Metro Trains have already improved the Melbourne Metro train network and once opened, these trains will be used to convey passengers through the new Metro Tunnel.
The Clayton Utz team was led by Partner Marcus Davenport and Special Counsel Annabelle Holcombe with key support from Lawyer Rahul Krishna.
Partner Marcus Davenport congratulates Evolution Rail on the successful refinancing. He said:
We’re pleased to have advised Evolution Rail on the HCMT Project since its inception. This major refinancing of its debt package is another step forward in the success of the project. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Evolution Rail.
