We are pleased to welcome Sophy Woodward, a specialist insurance disputes lawyer, to our partnership, strengthening the firm's Commercial Litigation Practice.

Ms Woodward has more than 20 years' experience acting on complex disputes, including contested insurance claims, construction disputes, regulatory investigations and class actions. She has particular expertise in advising clients on insurance and risk management issues, risk allocation and all aspects of insurance in major transactions, as well as advising clients on their regulatory requirements and claims handling obligations.

Clayton Utz National Practice Group Leader and Commercial Litigation Partner Greg Williams said Ms Woodward joins the firm with an outstanding track record in insurance disputes.

'Sophy has not only held partnership and other senior legal positions at major law firms, but also has legal counsel experience at major businesses, including BHP and Transurban' Mr Williams said.  'Sophy's move to Clayton Utz will build on our proud record of acting for policy holders in insurance disputes. It also reflects our view of Melbourne as a growing litigation market.'

Ms Woodward is recognised in the legal directory Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2023 in both the Insurance and Dispute Resolution categories.

Ms Woodward joins Clayton Utz from HFW where she was a partner.
