Media release: Restructuring and insolvency lawyer Katie Higgins to join Clayton Utz partnership
We will soon welcome specialist restructuring and insolvency partner Katie Higgins to our partnership.
Ms Higgins represents financial institutions, listed and multi-national companies, funds, directors, insolvency practitioners and investors on a wide range of restructuring, special situations, insolvency and finance matters.
With a career spanning more than 20 years, Ms Higgins has deep experience in the projects and infrastructure, energy and resources, property and retail sectors.
Partner and leader of Clayton Utz’s Restructuring and Insolvency Practice Nicholas Poole said Ms Higgins joins at a time when formal insolvencies are at record highs, with continued inflationary and interest rate pressures expected to result in the further expansion of private capital into special situation opportunities.
‘Katie will bring a wealth of experience to our growing Restructuring and Insolvency Practice. Our team is market-leading, and Katie will strengthen and complement the service we offer clients.’
‘Earlier this year we welcomed Maria O’Brien, a leader in the Asia-Pacific restructuring and insolvency space, to the firm’s partnership. To have Katie now join our team puts Clayton Utz in an even stronger position, with an unrivalled depth of expertise to continue to support our local and international clients.’
Ms Higgins has particular expertise in debt restructurings, workouts and insolvency-related matters, and much of her career has involved complex cross-border mandates. Her career has included legal secondments at two of Australia’s largest banks. Ms Higgins joins from Jones Day where she helped establish their Australian restructuring and insolvency practice.
Ms Higgins is recognised by Best Lawyers, Doyles Guide, Chambers and Legal 500. She will begin her new role with Clayton Utz in January.
