Media Release: Clayton Utz wins two awards at 2024 Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards
Clayton Utz has taken out two awards at the 2024 Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards: Managing Partner of the Year – Emma Covacevich and Special Counsel of the Year – Luke Furness.
Managing Partner of the Year – Emma Covacevich
Since becoming Clayton Utz Chief Executive Partner in July 2023 after three years as Deputy, Emma Covacevich has brought a renewed focus on the experiences of our people, the way our business operates, and the way we engage with our clients.
Emma said: “It's been a big year at Clayton Utz. This award acknowledges the combined efforts of many across our firm. I feel privileged to work with incredible people every day who share the same vision for the firm.”
Emma was also shortlisted as an overall Excellence Awardee on the evening of the Australian Law Awards.
Special Counsel of the Year – Luke Furness
Commercial Litigation Special Counsel Luke Furness was named Special Counsel of the Year. The award recognises his outstanding technical skills, positive client outcomes and contributions to the wider community, including his commitment to pro bono work and diversity and inclusion.
Commenting on his win, Luke said: “My role as a Special Counsel is about supporting everyone I meet and contributing to the firm, our clients, the legal profession and wider community. It’s great to be recognised in the Australian Law Awards.”
The firm was also a finalist for multiple awards: Law Firm of the Year, Wellbeing Initiative of the Year, Property Team or the Year and Government Team of the Year.
