Case Study: Legal Support Driving Innovation in Westpac's Technology Contracts

The background

Our team have continued to act for the Technology Digital Legal Team of Westpac Banking Corporation on a range of significant matters. Our engagement has spanned multiple strategic IT contracts, technology transformations for bank-essential infrastructure and procurements to streamline back-office operations.

Our role on these transactions is typically extensive. We provide end-to-end support, directly working with Westpac's Group Technology Sourcing commercial team, conducting legal negotiations and assisting Westpac with its internal approval processes.

Our services

Our team has provided comprehensive support to Westpac through a range of negotiations and implementations. This includes negotiation of a new business process outsourcing agreement for the migration of services and process improvement, negotiation source code licences for critical platforms, and negotiating an API and data supply arrangement, for streamlined processing of loan applications. We managed contracting for a new technology solution to replace outdated third-party cookies and facilitated the adoption of innovative cloud-based procurement solutions, making Westpac the first bank in Australia to move to a cloud-based procurement solution for purchasing, payments, spend management, automation of manual tasks and risk management.
