Overview

For over a decade, Alex has been providing corporate tax assistance to Australian and multinational organisations (including sovereign wealth funds, foreign pension funds and private equity funds). He has provided tax advice across a number of industries, specifically in infrastructure, property, energy and natural resources and corporate M&A. This includes working with bidders, vendors and State sides. This enables Alex to identify and assess risks to assist his clients for a positive outcome for their transactions.

Notable Work
  • Igneo Infrastructure Partners: advised on the successful acquisition of a portfolio of renewables assets (solar and battery) from Elliott Green Power and BayWa in addition to the successful acquisition of the Macarthur Wind Farm.
  • Palisade Infrastructure: advised on the acquisition and development of large-scale renewable projects including Granville Harbour (wind), Ross River (solar), Snowtown (wind), Macarthur (wind) and Stockyard Hill (wind).
  • Plenary Group: advised Plenary Group on many public/private partnerships ensuring the needs of different financial investors could be accommodated within a bid structure consistent with State objectives. This included OSARs, Sydney Metro, Footscray Hospital, Victorian Social Housing, and the Waterloo redevelopment.
  • QIC: advised QIC in relation to the establishment of the Queensland Natural Capital Fund and the provision of tax structuring services in relation to the proposed acquisition of NapCo.
  • Australian Retirement Trust: provided income tax advice in relation to the proposed QPF restructure.
  • Intera Renewables: provided tax structuring, tax due diligence and financial modelling assistance in relation to the establishment of the Intera Renewables fund structure which holds the Hallett Wind Farm, Snowtown Wind Farm, Ross River Solar Farm and an interest in the Macarthur Wind Farm and Granville Harbour Wind Farm
  • Enel Green Power: advising on establishing an Australian investment platform based on Enel's "stewardship" model, a third-party co-investment model used globally.
  • Infrared Capital Partners: advised on a number of renewable energy projects including the successful acquisition of the Lal lal wind farm, bid for the Aramara solar farm and a number of waste to energy projects.
  • Port of Geelong: provided tax structuring and tax due diligence assistance in relation to the acquisition of Geelong Port.
  • Walker Group: advised the Walker Group in relation to its proposed commercial development project in Parramatta.
