Amy brings strategic and commercially-minded advice across all aspects of industrial relations and employment law.

She has extensive experience advising on complex industrial disputes and employment litigation including contraventions of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), termination of enterprise agreements, workplace determination proceedings, defending occupational health and safety prosecutions and complex grievance matters.

Notable Work
  • Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO): Conducting litigation on behalf of the Ombudsman regarding contraventions of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) by employers in Federal Courts and the High Court of Australia, including management of a Federal Court proceeding commenced by the FWO involving a claim for $115 million of employee entitlements against Coles Supermarkets Australia Pty Ltd. Amy has also conducted legal assessments of potential litigation, conducted complex litigation including adverse action and sham contracting, as well as provided internal advice to the Ombudsman in relation to policy and procedure.
  • ExxonMobil: Management of a complex enterprise bargaining disputes at ExxonMobil's Victorian sites, industrial action, picketing and related litigation, including a successful appeal to the High Court of Australia (and successfully defending a concurrent appeal by the unions) (Esso Australia Pty Ltd v Australian Workers Union [2017] HCA 54) and conduct and management of all Federal Court of Australia and Fair Work Commission proceedings related to the termination of industrial action and related issues.
  • Australian Building and Construction Commission: Acting for the ABCC and its predecessors in a range of industrial disputes and compliance proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia.
  • North East Link Authority: Providing general strategic advice in relation to workplace health and safety obligations of the Authority, and management of compliance with those obligations by the Authority and its officers.
  • Major Transport Infrastructure Authority (MTIA): Representing the Victorian Government advising on occupational health and safety strategy, compliance, and incident response in relation to significant Major Projects.
  • Pretty Foundation: Drafting employment contracts and providing general employment advice in relation to Award and legislative compliance.
  • Minus18: Pro bono legal assistance to Minus18, including drafting employment contracts and providing compliance advice.
