Adviser to a range of leading Australian and international organisations with a focus on energy and resources and a broad corporate and commercial legal experience. Regularly assists clients on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, project development, foreign investment advice offtake and supply agreements and regulatory issues across mining, energy and oil & gas sectors.
He is a tutor of mining law at the University of Western Australia.
Notable Work
- Wright Prospecting: advised on the landmark agreement between Wright Prospecting and Rio Tinto to modernise the joint venture arrangements for the Rhodes Ridge iron-ore project in Western Australia.
- Tianqi Lithium Corporation: advised on its joint venture with IGO limited and divestment of a 49% interest in its Western Australian operations, valuing the investment at $1.9 billion.
- Squadron Energy: advised on its acquisition of CWP Renewables, comprising a broad portfolio of wind, solar and firming projects in New South Wales and Victoria – in one of Australia’s largest renewable energy transactions ever.
- FMG: advised in relation to various agreements including JV agreements and tenement sale agreements.
- Wyloo Metals: advised on its entry into an agreement with IGO Limited to jointly evaluate opportunities for nickel downstream processing in Australia.
- Barrick Gold Corporation: advised on the structuring of Barrick's JV arrangements with Newmont at the Kalgoorlie Superpit.
- JAURD: acted in relation to an investment by way of farm-in and joint venture to acquire a 35% interest in the Lake Maitland uranium project in Western Australia.
- MMG: advised on its sale of the Golden Grove copper, zinc and gold project in Western Australia to EMR Capital for US$210 million.
- Alcoa: advising on various transactional and project-related matters, including its high-purity alumina joint venture with FYI Resources and operations at the Portland Aluminium smelter.
- Peak Iron Mines: advising on its various mining interests in South Australia, including the development of the Peculiar Knob and Hawks Nest Projects.
