Joel brings over 20 years' experience in advising on complex commercial and regulatory matters including access agreements, supply/distribution arrangements, franchising, major projects, joint ventures, M&A, corporate advisory, regulatory compliance, and licencing.

He advises private sector and government clients on large scale corporate and commercial matters across a range of sectors. Joel has a deep understanding of the critical issues to ensure risks are addressed and mitigated for clients.

  • nbn: key adviser to nbn since 2011 in relation to a number of its key strategic arrangements.
  • Optus: acted on a number of significant commercial procurement and supply contracting matters.
  • Government owned organisations: advises on their telecommunications requirements including licensing and regulatory issues.
  • National Intermodal Company: advising on its Moorebank Intermodal Precinct
  • Pacific National: acted in the negotiation and preparation of a number of long-term coal haulage agreements.
  • GeelongPort and Port of Newcastle: advises on general commercial and strategic procurement and supply arrangements.
  • Western Sydney Airport: advising on key commercial/operational contracts including airport services contracts with airlines.
  • Various clients: regularly advises clients on strategic supply, transportation and warehousing arrangements.
  • Pharmaceutical Groups: advises Merck Sharpe & Dohme, Organon, Amgen, Edwards Life Sciences and Eli Lilly regarding their Australian distribution and re-seller arrangements.
  • Various government agencies:  advised Health Share Victoria and various other government agencies on procurement strategic contracts.
  • Suntory group: advised on the sale of the Cerebos Food & Instant Coffee business in Australia and New Zealand and Asian Home Gourmet Singapore business to The Kraft Heinz Company;
  • Beam Suntory and Frucor Suntory: advises on commercial aspects of their respective Australian operations.
  • Woolworths: advised on its long-term strategic fuel partnership with Caltex and its long-term strategic fuel partnership with Euro Garage. Primary advisor on Woolworths on commercial aspects of Woolworths’ new online marketplace platform.
  • Port of Newcastle: acts on all aspects of its Clean Energy Precinct
  • GeelongPort: acts on its proposed LNG Import Terminal project with Viva Energy.
  • Origin Energy: acted on a range of major acquisitions and projects including its acquisitions of electricity retailers, generation trading rights and power stations.
