Dual qualified in law and IT, having worked professionally as a developer, and having extensive experience in technology contracting, Patrick has a deep understanding of the technical and commercial issues facing clients in technology transactions.

  • Whole of State SAP cloud: Lead adviser to the State of Queensland in negotiating and documenting the State's whole-of-government arrangement for supply of SAP cloud products to all departments and agencies.
  • Glencore: Advised Glencore on contracts for procurement of autonomous haulage systems from Caterpillar and Komatsu, including global technology licensing and procurement process arrangements.
  • Hastings Deering: Advised Hastings Deering on the IP and technology aspects of the development of an automated warehouse and fulfilment centre, including negotiating a technology licence agreement for the associated automation software.
  • Powerlink: Advised Powerlink on the IP aspects of its CopperString2032 project to provide high-voltage transmission connecting Queensland's minerals province to the national electricity grid.
  • Stanwell: Advised Stanwell on the IP, technology and cybersecurity aspects of its Wambo wind farm investment, including advising on operations contracts and technology escrow.
  • Brisbane Airport Corporation: Advised BAC in relation to the technology and IP aspects of its domestic and international terminal security system upgrade projects, negotiated technology licensing with the successful bidder.
  • Brisbane City Council: Advised BCC in relation to its technology transformation project partnering with Deloitte and applying agile development methodologies to develop a foundational ERP platform as a base for Council's operations.
  • eHealth Queensland: Lead adviser to Queensland Health (eHealth Queensland) in the procurement and roll-out of its enterprise integrated electronic medical records system ($1.2B total program cost).
  • Queensland Revenue Office: Acted for QRO to undertake a review and analysis of the Office's automated data-sharing arrangements, considering regulatory compliance and the effectiveness of contracts and other controls.
  • Startups: Acted for a Brisbane-based financial analysis start-up in relation to a partnering agreement with Intuit. Acted for Brisbane-based gaming machine management start-up to undertake patent infringement risk analysis
