AI Governance - White paper

Despite AI’s transformative potential, confidence and adoption rates among Australian businesses lag behind those in comparable countries. As a result, Australian businesses are not fully leveraging AI, leading to missed opportunities for innovation and efficiency.

This issue is addressed in the Governance Institute of Australia’s AI Governance White Paper, developed in collaboration with the National Artificial Intelligence Centre and with Clayton Utz as a sponsor and contributor.

The white paper draws from leadership insights gathered by roundtables and aligns with best practice from the recently released Voluntary AI Safety Standards. It examines the critical role of governance in the ethical and responsible deployment of AI, emphasising that strong governance is essential to ensure that AI technologies are transparent, fair, and aligned with societal values.

The white paper was built on three key pillars:

  1. Data-driven insights that consider the current state of AI adoption in Australia;
  2. Ethical considerations and the framework to address challenges;
  3. Actionable recommendations to help business leaders implement AI effectively and ethically.

Through this white paper, business leaders will gain valuable insights and practical strategies to harness the power of AI safely and responsibly, ensuring their organisations remain at the forefront of innovation.
