Overview

Sian has extensive expertise in advising on Australian third-party access and utility infrastructure regimes. Sian has a detailed knowledge of the third-party infrastructure access regime provisions in specialist access regimes such as the National Gas Law, as well as in Part IIIA of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) more generally. She has advised both infrastructure access-seekers and access-providers on regulatory issues.

In recognition of her expertise in the market, Sian has been recognised by Who's Who Legal as one of the future leaders in Competition and by Doyle's Guide as a Competition & Consumer Protection Law Rising Star.

Sian becomes a partner on 1 January 2025. 

Notable Work
  • Jemena: Advising on various gas regulatory matters relating to its distribution network given the accelerating energy transition;
  • APLNG: Advising on various matters including the ACCC's inquiry into the east coast gas market and gas reforms;
  • Confidential energy client: Advising a on competition aspects of a green hydrogen and ammonia project;
  • nbn: Key member of the nbn advisory team (and has completed a number of secondments), advising on competition and consumer law, Part XIC and contractual matters;
  • Port of Newcastle: Key adviser to the Port of Newcastle, one of the largest coal export terminals in the world;
  • National Intermodal: Advised on various potential competition law issues and open access regime issues.
